Ferro Manganese

Ferro Manganese is a ferroalloy composed mainly of manganese and iron, typically containing around 65–80% manganese and 15–25% iron, with small amounts of carbon and other elements. It is produced by heating a mixture of manganese ore, coke, and iron in a blast or submerged arc furnace. The primary use of Ferro Manganese is in steelmaking, where it serves as a deoxidizing and alloying agent. Manganese improves the strength, toughness, and hardness of steel while also helping to reduce the brittleness caused by the presence of sulfur.

There are two main types of Ferro Manganese: high-carbon and medium/low-carbon grades. High-carbon Ferro Manganese is most commonly used in the production of carbon steels, while low-carbon variants are preferred for producing stainless steels and special alloy steels. In addition to enhancing mechanical properties, Ferro Manganese contributes to the wear resistance and durability of steel products, making it essential for industries such as construction, automotive, shipbuilding, and heavy machinery manufacturing.
